On May 6, 1998 Steve Jobs introduced the first iMac in Cupertino, California. iMac was Apple's new type of computer. The iMac was positioned by Apple as the most original new computer in a stylish new case design, with translucent "Bondi Blue" plastics.
iMac G4 (Flat Panel)
This iMac G4 was the first completely redesigned than any iMac in the past.This Mac was based a 15-inch LCD screen, this iMac also brought the "Super Drive" to the consumer space for the first time.
iMac G5
This iMac G5 brought G5 muscle to Apple's consumer desktop line. To a 64-bit processor, the iMac G5 also included a much faster memory bus, better graphics for the low-end model, twice the hard drive space for the high-end model, and a new audio port which doubled as an optical digital audio output.
The New iMacs
This iMac started with the announced in January 2006 alongside the MacBook Pro, the iMac was the first desktop Mac based on an Intel processor. Running on the Intel Core Duo processor, which had two processor cores on a single chip, the iMac was significantly faster than its predecessor, the iMac, when running Intel-compiled code. It also features faster bus and memory speeds, a better graphics chip set, and a mini-DVI port which featured monitor spanning (a first for consumer Macs).
